MBP Update

Well a good nights sleep for my MacBook Pro seemed to have cured the dreaded fan noise I mentioned in my previous post. A good stress testing with none other than Warcraft got the fan's running but with none of the rattling noise that was apparent last night.

On a related note, a guy named Hendrik Holtmann, has released smcFanControl so you can control some of that fan speed but only within the limits that Apple has set. I've tried a few different settings, and found that the 3000 rpm mark is a good balance between fan noise and heat dissipated. Note that all that you're really doing is setting the minimum speed, not the constant speed, for the fans so if the system needs to run the fans faster it will.
